Everyone is invited to join us at Ashe County Park for our annual July 4 Celebration. Gates into the park will open at 12:00 PM to allow parking to begin for the event. If you don’t want to drive into the park, you can catch a free shuttle bus at the Ashe County Courthouse parking lot beginning at 4:00 PM. We will plan to run two shuttle buses this year, and those buses will run both before and after the fireworks display. Beginning at 3:00 PM there will be inflatable rides for the kids to include the Giant Slide, Obstacle Course, and Moon Walk. A wristband for the inflatable rides can be purchased for $5 to enjoy a full afternoon of fun. There will be reasonably priced concessions available at the park concession stand and an Italian Ice stand for a cool treat. We’ll also have two outstanding bands to perform at the Russ Blevins Shelter. The Grayson Highlands Band will perform some great Bluegrass music, 6:00 – 7:00 PM; and the ToneBlazers will perform an Americana-based music set; 7:30 – 8:30 PM. Both bands have a strong Ashe County heritage. The fireworks display will be the grand finale of the day, and will begin at dark. Our fireworks display will be provided by East Coast Pyrotechnics, the same company that provides fireworks for the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the City of Charlotte, just to mention two of their clients. You may feel free to bring your own food and drinks into the park; however, no alcoholic beverages are allowed on any part of the Ashe County Park property. We ask that you leave dogs at home for the event, as they obviously get rather out-of-sorts in larger crowds of people and when the loud fireworks begin. Come and join us to celebrate our American Independence Day at Ashe County Park located at 527 Ashe Park Road, Jefferson, NC. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Ashe County Parks & Recreation office during regular business hours (Mon. – Fri., 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), or visit us on our website, ashecountyparks.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
